NANOTECHNOLOGY INNOVATION CENTRE

The research focus of the group is on design, modelling and synthesis of nanomaterials with specific properties and various possible applications. Initial focus is on carbon nanotubes, silicon nanoparticles and nanolayer deposition techniques. The group collaborates with units and centres in the CSIR, universities, science councils, the private and public sector and international research institutions.

NANO CONFERENCE

The next mssa conference will be hosted by the university of pretoria in the first week of december 2015. More information is to follow closer to the time.

ABOUT US

The National Centre for Nano-Structured Materials was created in 2007 as part of the implementation of Government’s National Nanotechnology Strategy. The Centre is hosted by the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research in Pretoria as one of its Emerging Research Areas. It is one of two National Innovation Centres in Nanotechnology, created by Government to play a lead role in the development of this research area in the country, as well as the development of skilled South African nanotechnology researchers and scientists.
